Doubleday is an American publishing label which started its journey in 1897 with the name Doubleday & McClure Company. The company was then founded by Frank Nelson Doubleday who teamed up with Samuel McClure, a magazine publisher. The Day’s Work by Rudyard Kipling was amongst the first bestsellers of the company. In 2009, the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group was formed after Doubleday teamed up with Knopf Publishing Group. A range of literary fiction, serious nonfiction and commercial fiction books are published by this company and its imprint Nan A. Talese.
